Upstart Crows of Santa Fe is a Shakespeare troupe that produces workshops and uncut plays with a focus on understanding and collaboration. Performing Shakespeare with others is life-transforming (there’s actually science about that!). Upstart Crows provide an inclusive community for youth to experience the genius of Shakespeare’s plays, learn and grow as a performer, and find inspiration and share your enthusiasm. If you’re 10 to 18 years old, you can join a workshop, a play, a dramatic reading production, produce a filmed monologue, or take part in a close-reading group. The young actors explore Shakespeare’s language and meaning with the help of experienced Shakespearean directors and professional actors. The Crows provide extensive outreach to schools, libraries, and community centers, sharing a passion for the plays. Upstart Crows produces the annual Santa Fe Youth Shakespeare Festival, providing a semester of training for student clubs at schools in Santa Fe County. The Crows also include Upstart Readers, a dramatic reading company.
